SOUTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL
THURSDAY, APRIL 14
1. Kay Hoag will be out for two more additional weeks. She continues to rest and get healthy. We certainly wish her the best! In addition, Sharon Pitt's husband, Ted, remains in the hospital. We do not know when he will be sent home. He is very, very sick. Jeff Nichols' last day is this Friday - we wish you the best in your new position! Please keep these folks in your thoughts and prayers.
2. On Wednesday, all employees were sent an email regarding budget updates. The link provided gave lots of detailed figures on what could potentially happen with our budget. I encourage all of you to take a look at that information. It will affect all of us, possibly even this school year - they are seriously considering a 1-day furlough.
3. The Health/PE department at central office will be making rounds in the next couple of weeks to observe your Instant Recess time. They are simply collecting data - nothing evaluative.
4. NCAE is holding an education rally on May 3 at 4:00pm in Raleigh. All educators are encouraged to attend, no matter what your position is. I know that there are several of you interested in going. We will forward more information to you as we get it from FCAE. We are posting flyers in the workroom.
5. Please don't forget that we have a staff meeting on Monday. We will do the UNCF kickoff and then Deb Neal will train all certified staff on EOG accommodations.
6. Jeff Nichols sent out an email regarding NCWISE and making sure that you are putting grades in the 4th quarter category instead of the exam category. Please see his email from Wednesday regarding this.
7. With Jeff leaving us, it is important for all of us to be on the same page when it comes to technology. Deb Neal and I will put together instructions regarding EOG grading. We will give you very detailed instructions at the end of the year regarding technology. In the meantime, if you have a situation where a computer needs to be unlocked, please contact Lisa Turner. If you have a malfunction with any computer, then we will have to put in a heat ticket for central office to repair.
8. Caleb's Creek will hold their field days on our campus on May 12 and 13. No classes may be outside on the field on these dates.
9. If you have any students that you feel should be recommended for the Leap Academy, please see the Guidance Office. We have some students that would definitely benefit from this program.
10. If you are planning on having any celebrations or special events during the 4th quarter, we ask that you use student debt as one of the incentive pieces. We will work to get you debt information sooner this quarter. In addition, please be very specific about requirements if you are planning an incentive events. You will need to put those requirements in writing to the kids ahead of time.
11. The Multi-purpose room calendar has been misplaced. So right now we have no way of knowing what groups have signed up for the room from this month on. A new one will be placed on the hook where it has always been. If you have already signed up for something or need to sign up for a date to use the MP room, please get that event on the schedule as soon as possible.
CALENDAR UPDATES - The online calendar is up and running. It has been updated today and even includes all field trips on the schedule. Please visit on a regular basis to keep up with upcoming events and meetings. Remember to immediately sign in when you get on the website so that you have access to all Teacher Resources.
