I hope that everyone has a great extended (sort of) weekend. Thanks to all of you for your hard work during the first quarter. It is hard to believe that November is already here! Take care of yourselves, take a deep breath, and soon it will be time for a holiday break!
1. Thanks to the entire staff for stepping up yesterday with Dorris' passing. This has been devastating for us, the students, and the family. I appreciate all of you helping out our students and fellow staff members. It's difficult to lose a member of the SEMS family! I will keep all of you posted on the arrangements by phone and email.
2. Congratulations to Jennifer Wells on the new addition. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Tuesday night.
3. Robin Lytton will be our new EC Case Manager. She will start on November 28. You may see her in the building a few times prior to that. Debi Kopchik will begin at Wiley sometime during the first week of November, but she will be with us a few days in November to conduct IEP meetings. Please welcome Robin when she arrives. Good luck to Debi at Wiley Middle. We will miss you!
4. If you have grade changes after you have finalized your grades, you cannot go into the system and change them. Instead, you must fill out a grade change form and submit it to me. After I approve the form, I will give it to Cindy Wilkes to change in the system. Grade change forms can be picked up in Cindy's office or from Sandy Derrah.
5. Please be sure that you register for your staff development on October 31 in the system.
6. The PTSA fundraiser kickoff will take place on Friday, November 4. We will have grade level assemblies during encore blocks. All teachers will receive a memo regarding the details and instructions. In addition, fundraiser information went out in Wednesday folders on October 26. If any students turn in a permission slip prior to November 4, please turn them into the PTSA mailbox in the teacher workroom. All students will report back to homebase on this day so that students can receive their chocolate boxes.
7. Report cards will go out on Wednesday, November 2. All students will return to homebase at 1:50 on Wednesday to receive their report cards. Encore teachers, we will need your assistance with afternoon dismissal. We will get with you to let you know where you need to be.
8. We were hoping to have the Instant Recess plan finalized by now. With the events from this week, this plan has been postponed. We will get with you when the plan is completed and we are ready to move forward. We will give you plently of notice.
