1. Thanks to all of you for your hard work during testing. The testing was a huge success! You are all such an amazing staff. Special thanks to Deb Neal for keeping us all straightened out! Great job!
2. All staff are encouraged to wear their SEMS best on Monday, May 24, for the hill dedication. You may even want to wear your SEMS pink in honor of Debbie. The quick ceremony is at 2:30pm. The hill is being dedicated to Debbie Warren in honor of her service to SEMS and WSFCS. All staff are expected to attend. The ceremony will not be long. Some WSFCS central office staff, Lowe's staff, PTSA, and Kernersville News will be present.
3. Grades for the quarter will be due on Tuesday, June 8. I know that is early, but it is necessary. The only real official teacher work day for schools is Friday, June 11 (Monday, June 14 is reserved for central office and Tuesday, Jun 15 is a work day that teachers can take off if needed). So June 11 is the only day that we, as a staff, can stuff report cards with all of the required information and report card. Grades then must be due a few days prior in order to prepare for that. A positive will be that your grades will be completed before school lets out, so that is one less worry for you after school ends. So please make plans to have your grades turned in by that June 8. But you don't have to tell the kids that grades are due early!
4. Yearbooks have arrived and will be distributed on Monday, June 7. We are working on a plan for that distribution.
5. Red Zone is right around the corner. Please make sure that you have your plans ready. See one of us if you have any questions.
6. The end of the year is approaching! We are working on the check-out sheet to distribute to all staff. This sheet will have to be completed before you leave for the year. More details coming soon.
7. We are continuing to work with Human Resources on our staffing with some of our vacancies being filled with surplus staff. Staffing decisions are starting to be made. I will begin sharing this with you during the next few weeks. I will be scheduling meetings with teams and individuals to share that info. In addition, we are going to have to interview several surplus employees in several areas. I will send out emails as that process begins in case any of you would be interested in being on the interview committee.
8. FYI - Caleb's Creek Elementary will be having their field days on May 26 and 27 in our backyard. Just wanted you all to be aware.
9. As the year winds down, many of you are going to be having picnics and celebrations on the campus. Please be sure to communicate that information regarding where you will be to us. If you want to use any of the field areas, please coordinate that with the PE department to make sure that all PE classes, teams, etc. can be accommodated.
