SOUTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL
MAY 27, 2010
1. Congratulations to Prudence Brooks. She has passed the testing necessary to get her full license and degree. We are so proud of you!
2. Suzanne Smith's last day with us will be June 3. We wish her well as she is moving on with her family. Good luck to you, Suzanne. You will definitely be missed!
3. The end of the year is approaching! We are working on the check-out sheet to distribute to all staff. This sheet will have to be completed before you leave for the year. We will get you the sheet early next week with some instructions.
4. Deb Neal is working on the retesting plan for next week. Please be patient as she makes sure that all students and testing sessions are taken care of. She will get that to you as quickly as possible.
5. We are finalizing details for the 8th grade celebration on Wednesday, June 9. We will not have encore classes on this day. Mrs. Cole is working on a schedule so that any 6th or 7th graders in the building that day will still get lunch. Encore teachers: You will be distributed throughout the building during the day to assist with activities. [If you are reading this blog, stop by and see Susie for a sweet treat!] Rotating coverage will be needed in the gym set up and activities, multi-purpose room set up and activities, 8th grade hall supervision, and 6th grade hall supervision and coverage. Encore teachers, please see Mrs. Cole to schedule your duty spots for this day.
6. Grades for the quarter will be due on Tuesday, June 8. I know that is early, but it is necessary. The only real official teacher work day for schools is Friday, June 11 (Monday, June 14 is reserved for central office and Tuesday, Jun 15 is a work day that teachers can take off if needed). So June 11 is the only day that we, as a staff, can stuff report cards with all of the required information and report card. Grades then must be due a few days prior in order to prepare for that. A positive will be that your grades will be completed before school lets out, so that is one less worry for you after school ends. So please make plans to have your grades turned in by that June 8. But you don't have to tell the kids that grades are due early!
7. Yearbooks have arrived and will be distributed on Monday, June 7. We are working on a plan for that distribution.
8. As the year winds down, many of you are going to be having picnics and celebrations on the campus. Please be sure to communicate that information regarding where you will be to us. If you want to use any of the field areas, please coordinate that with the PE department to make sure that all PE classes, teams, etc. can be accommodated.
9. We will have a staff meeting on Monday, June 7, to finalize any details for end of year stuff.
10. The PTSA will be providing lunch on Friday, June 11, for all staff members.
May Birthdays!
