SOUTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2010
1. Don't forget to "fall back" this weekend! Set your clocks back one hour and enjoy the extra hour on Sunday!
2. Congratulations to Mrs. Hatch. She is being honored at two events in the next week for Teacher of the Year. We are proud of you!
3. Friday, November 5, we will kickoff our school fundraiser. We will have grade level assemblies on this day for the kickoff. Information has been placed in your mailboxes and an email sent to you as well. Please review this information, as it affects all teachers.
4. Please remember that ACC folders go home every Wednesday. There may end up being one or two Wednesdays where there is nothing in the folder, but we still are expected to send it home each week.
5. In the coming weeks, I will be scheduling meetings with your SSC teams to review classroom walkthrough data from the first quarter. This is data that administrators collect when we visit your classrooms.
6. Winter weather is just around the corner. It is time to review the inclement weather plan in case we have a delay. The delay schedule is posted under Teacher Resources on the website. If we do have a delay, you will be given a schedule that morning so that you know what encore classes your students will need to report to and the times that they need to report. The blocks of core time can be scheduled as the team sees fit. I hope that this provides a more flexible schedule for everyone and gives each group a short break.
7. Information was sent to you via email on Tuesday regarding any grade changes. If you need to change a report card grade, you must fill out the grade change form and submit it to me. I will approve and give to Cindy Wilkes to process. This way, all changes are documented for future reference. This is the only process available to officially change a grade.
8. There have been lots of questions regarding use of substitute teachers once they come into the building for the day. If a substitute is in the building, please do not make arrangements with them to cover an activity for you during that school day. If they have open periods, we assign them to other places throughout the building that need coverage. If you are in need of assistance during the school day and need coverage for a class, please contact us in the main office to let us know of your emergency and we will help to take care of it.
9. Many of you have been utilizing the bullying resources that we have available. It has been impressive to see lots of teachers incorporating an anti-bullying message in your lesson plans. Please hold on to these lesson plans and resources. Since bullying is one of our targeted areas on the School Improvement Plan, it will be good to share ideas and resources with one another and document our actions as a school.
10. Staff meeting on Monday, November 8. Discussion items include: School Improvement Plan, online access to pay stubs, reporting crimes update, etc.
11. Jeff Nichols is going to offer some technology workshops on Monday, November 15. More information to follow.
12. Please be sure to keep up with the online calendar. November and December are full of activities!
Happy Birthday!
