SOUTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2012
1. Congratulations to Matt Halverstadt. He has been selected as this year's Teacher of Promise. Each year, the school can honor a first year teacher for their hard work and growth in the classroom. Matt has definitely shown us that he is committed to teaching. Matt will be honored at the STAY banquet in April.
2. An Apple a Day......Our apple tree is up and running strong in the main office. Give a staff member an apple for doing something right, something creative, helping out others. A small pat on the back can go a long way for each other! Thanks to Laura Horn and Susie Hook for organizing the tree!
3. Don't forget about the Arts Council. Please consider donating to this foundation. They offer lots of great programs for our students. To donate, please click on the link on the WSFCS homepage. Be sure to print out your donation page, sign, and give to Leslie Ring by the end of February.
4. We will have our second annual Spring Arts Festival on Tuesday, March 13, from 6:00-8:00pm. There will be an arts and crafts festival, performances, PTSA book fair, and much more! Staff, students, and community members have an opportunity to show off their craft or hobby. Information was sent out in this week's Wednesday folders for all students. In addition, all staff are welcome to show off their craft or hobby if you are interested in participating. If you would like to assist with the festival, please let me know. If you'd like to rent a table at the arts and crafts show, you will need to fill out a registration form. They are available in the main office. This was a huge success last year with over 350 people in attendance!
5. The new email system will transfer over to Microsoft Outlook on February 21. There is nothing substantial that you are required to do to prepare for this transfer other than to clean up your mailboxes. In preparation for this move, Mr. Downs will offer several help sessions throughout that week. It is important to note that all of us will NOT have access to any email from February 17 - 20. Please remind your parents of this. The new system will be up and running on February 21.
6. The next SIT meeting was originally scheduled for March 12. We have moved that meeting up to Monday, February 27. This has been reflected on the master online calendar.
7. The Book Fair scheduled to begin on Friday, March 9, and will run through Thursday, March 15. We plan to work on a schedule for all students to preview the fair and then will open up for several days for students who wish to return and make a purchase. Friday, March 9, is also Spring Picture Day. We will create a schedule that will accommodate both events. More details soon....
Please be sure to check the online calendar weekly. The second semester is full of events and activities. Upcoming events include:
