Happy Valentine's! Please enjoy this time with your families and enjoy the snow!
1. 6th/7th grade HB teachers: Please plan to hand out the student assignment letters that are in your mailboxes on Monday. These letters are very important, as they indicate the students' school assignment for next school year. I will let the parents know that these are coming home on Monday. If you have any leftover letters that are not given to students, please return those to Sheree in the main office. We will get those letters to the remaining students.
2. Please consider donating to the Arts Council. You may pledge/donate during the month of February. To donate, please go to the WSFCS website and click on the link at the top for the Arts Council. There are great incentives this year, especially the trip to Disney World including spending money! If you give $10 or more, you are automatically entered into this drawing. Please see Mrs. Ring or Ms. Young if you have any questions.
3. Please plan to not utilize the network on Monday, February 17. The Technology Dept. will be here to repair our network to increase the speed.
4. We will extend collection of money for the Sigmon/Black head shaving event through Tuesday, February 18.
5. Student Council will be sponsoring Spirit Week on February 17-21. Please remind students that they are to follow student dress code for all days! For staff who participate in Spirit Week days, you may have casual dress next week. Spirit Week days: Monday = Wacky Tacky Day, Tuesday = Decades Day (6th - 60's, 7th - 70's, 8th - 80's), Wednesday = Twin Day, Thursday = Jaguar Pride Day for the Kernersville Cup, Friday = Moustache Day.
6. Please join us on Thursday, February 20, for the annual Kernersville Cup event! Our 8th grade basketball teams will be playing against Kernersville MS. The event will start at 6pm at Glenn HS. In addition, the Sigmon/Black head shaving event will take place.
8. Rebecca Given, 8th grade student, is raising money to go to Italy this summer as part of the People to People Ambassador program. If you sponsor a club, group, or team and would like to conduct a fundraiser for her, please let me know.
9. Homebase teachers: Please recognize and celebrate your All A and Honor Roll (all A's and B's) students in your classrooms/team. Please assure your All A's students that we are planning to have another All A event in the next month. More details coming soon.
10. Now is a good time to update your sub folders. As a reminder, your sub folders should be complete with your rosters, lesson plans or activities, and instructions on supervision, etc. These folders are to remain in your staff mailboxes.
11. Congratulations to the following students. They are our PTSA Chicken Pie Fundraiser winners: 6th grade - Taylor Sexton, 7th grade - Lyndon Harmon, 8th grade/Grand Prize winner - Mary Walsh. In addition, congrats to Karen Thorpe. She is the staff winner for the fundraiser and wins cash!
12. ACCESS testing for our certified ESL students will take place during the month of February. Mrs. Gardner will forward the schedule of students testing to staff when it is completed.
13. February 17 is our first snow make-up day. This will be an A-day on the calendar. There will be two A-days back to back during this time frame. As of today, the April workday is now a student day as well as June 12. I will forward more updates on the calendar as Central Office confirms them.
