Happy Summer to all of you! I hope that all of you are enjoying your summer break so far. Here's a few updates on SEMS.......
1. Our custodians continue to work very hard on the summer cleaning. Please remember that no staff are permitted to be in your classrooms, as they continue to work to remain on schedule. In addition, the Maintenance Department is working on facility repairs and improvements. I'd like to thank Edgar and Cathy for continuing to do such a wonderful job!
2. Please welcome our new staff members who have been hired so far this summer: Aaron Bailey, Assistant Principal; Kathryn Kiger, part-time Spanish; Caroline Tippette, part-time Art; Josh Krammer, Cafeteria Manager; Brian Smith, EC TA; and Ray Solomon, 8th Grade LA/SS. Welcome to SEMS! There are still several potential vacancies, so I will keep you posted on any updates.
3. By the beginning of August, all staff members will receive a packet of information regarding the opening week activities. In addition, I will email this information out to all of you as well for your convenience.
4. This year the school system has built in six early release days on the calendar. The purpose is to provide staff development opportunities for staff. SEMS will dismiss at 12pm on these days. The staff development is mandatory. The first early release day is scheduled for September 10. More details will be provided at our opening meetings.
Dates to remember:
August 12, 13, 14 - Option for staff to work in classrooms
August 15 - All WSFCS building closed
August 18 - First official day back for teachers
August 19 - 6th Grade Orientation, 6-8 Grade Open House
