1. 6th Grade Teachers: Please see my earlier email with details regarding MS Student Assignment letters for your homebase students. This is an extremely important letter that must go home with your students on Friday.
2. This is the last call for any donations to the Gage Edwards Fund (F. Santoro's nephew). Please consider giving to this fund in Gage's honor for his high school.
3. Encore teachers involved in the ASW process: Please have your objectives selected and finalized before Friday. Please see earlier email from me with details on completing these steps correctly.
4. This weekend is Daylight Savings Time. Don't forget to "spring forward" and move your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday morning!
5. Not many of us were able to give Karen Cole a proper goodbye last week due to the weather. We are working on a day soon for her to come in, enjoy lunch, and have staff members pop in to visit. We will let you know once that date has been confirmed.
6. The Spring Arts Festival will take place on Thursday, March 5. We are looking for interested staff members to assist in organizing, planning, and participating in this event. Trade-out time will be given for individuals who participate. We plan to have music performances, book fair, arts and crafts show, and a visit from a local author. We'd love to have as many staff members involved! For those of who wish to volunteer for this event, please sign up on the sheet outside my office. You can sign up for the activity you would like to assist with.
7. Please see your earlier email from me regarding February payroll and how to code your optional teacher workdays. All certified staff need to see Susie sometime between now and Tuesday to confirm how you wish those three days to be coded.
8. We will have a staff meeting on Monday, March 9. Topics include February payroll, quarter test schedule, and ER training sessions for March 11.
9. The grade level socials are still taking place on the make up dates listed on your revised March calendar. The staff sign ups are posted in the staff workroom. If you are interested in trade out time, please consult this sheet.
10. The Rising 6th Grade Open House will now take place on Monday, March 16, from 6:00 - 7:30pm.
11. Quarter test details: We have almost completed the upcoming quarter test schedule. We can confirm the following dates: March 19 - 8th Grade Math and Math I tests; March 23 - 8th Reading, 7th Reading, and 6th Math tests; March 24 - 7th Math, 6th Reading, and 8th Science. We will give you the full detailed schedule with notes at Monday's staff meeting. We are trying to minimize the effect of this testing on our March schedule.
12. The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) will take place during the first week back from Spring Break. Random second period classes will be selected by the district to complete this student survey. If/when selected, I will notify affected teachers directly to prepare for this survey.
13. WSFCS will conduct a summer Collaborative Learning Conference. It will take place at Walkertown HS on August 12 and 13. The conference will have breakout sessions in regards to struggling students and how to help them be more successful in the classroom. We will forward out the details of this event once the registration period begins.
