Weekly Update 3-11-10

SOUTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL
MARCH 11, 2010

1.  I hope you like the new format! Weekly updates will now be posted on this blog site.  You can also access any previous updates.  We are also adding a new online calendar.  You can now have instant, updated access to the monthly calendar by clicking here: CALENDAR.  The calendar is being updated daily, so you may want to bookmark the calendar site and check back frequently to keep up with changes.  You will no longer receive a printed calendar at the beginning of each month, but you may print the online version at any time.  Thanks to Jeff Nichols for getting us started!

2. Good luck to Mr. Nichols and Mr. Fought. They will be presenting on March 15 at the Middle School conference.

3. The sign-ups for March Madness should be complete. Please be sure to attend if you are signed up for this event. If there are issues, please see me.

4.  Update on due dates for grades!  If you are planning on being out on March 30 and 31, then your grades are due no later than Monday, March 29, at 8:00am.  If you are working on those workdays, then your grades are due no later than Wednesday, March 31, at 1:00pm.  We must stick to these deadlines to ensure that report cards get printed on time.  So please be sure to get grades and verifications to Mrs. Derrah on time.

5. The online enrollment period for the State Health Plan begins Monday, March 15. You must take action to confirm your status with the plan.

6. Don’t forget to spring forward this weekend! Be sure to get some extra rest since you are losing an hour.

7. We are preparing to start middle school registration.  The counselors will communicate what needs to take place in order to complete this process.  There will be several changes related to math course assignments.  The turnaround time for the registration cards is very short, so please help us stick to our deadlines!

8.  Glenn High School will be sponsoring a 5K walk/run as a fundraiser for a South African family.  The event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 10.  They will be using the SEMS campus for this event.    They are welcoming groups, clubs, and individuals to volunteer. More details will be provided later in case you would like to be participant or a volunteer.

9.  EC Teachers and administrators:  Please review the email from Debi Kopchik regarding registration for the EXCEED training.  This is a required training.

10. Gentry will not be in the building on the following dates and times:
Friday, March 12 (AM only) MS Registration meeting
