- Congrats to all of our fundraisers this past week. Several staff members sponsored drives for the Arts Council, Penny Drive, Red Cross drive, and Box Tops. Thanks to all of you! (As I learn more names, I will get better at this!)
- Good luck to Mr. Nichols and Mr. Fought. They will be presenting on March 15 at the Middle School conference.
- Thanks to those of you who turned in your staff survey (yellow sheet handed out at last staff meeting). Please turn it in as soon as possible if you have not completed it. This is wonderful feedback and it is important to me that I hear from all of the staff members.
- The sign-ups for March Madness should be complete. Please be sure to attend if you are signed up for this event. If there are issues, please see me. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt for this event, please see Mr. Horn by Friday.
- If you are interested in raising money for the March of Dimes, please let me know. The March for Babies will be held on Saturday, April 17.
- Please remember that we are back on the regular progress report schedule. The next scheduled reports will go out on March 17. This will be the last progress report that goes out before the end of the quarter. It is imperative that teachers contact parents if students are failing or if their grade drops significantly. This will prevent any issues after report cards come out. One last note – printing progress reports uses a lot of paper. So one way to reduce that number, print two progress reports per page when you get to the print screen. This will cut our paper usage in half!
- I have been asked several times about the staff dress code. My answer is that we all dress professionally during the week and then on Fridays you may wear blue jeans (preferably with a SEMS top). You may wear colored jeans during the week. SEMS T-shirts are acceptable on Fridays only (unless we have a special event – like this past Monday). Even if you wear blue jeans on Fridays, please still dress in a professional manner. Remember that we are models for our profession and want to represent SEMS well. I trust that you already know that!
- If you have any issues in the evenings or on weekends, please do not hesitate to call me. My personal cell number is 317-4412. I am having some issues with my Blackberry and may be getting a new one. When I have the definite number I will get it to you.

Worrell, Sherri 3/28 - Annual Enrollment for the 2010 / 2011 benefit year is from March 15 through April 9. As a requirement of new legislation establishing the Comprehensive Wellness Initiative ("CWI") ALL employees and their covered dependents will be moved to the 70/30 Basic plan effective July 1, 2010. During Annual Enrollment employees have the opportunity to elect the 80/20 Standard plan for the 2010/2011 benefit year if they attest that:
• 1) they and any family members who will be covered on July 1, 2010 do not use tobacco products, or
• 2) they and/or their family member(s) who will be covered on July 1, 2010, do use tobacco products BUT are participating in a tobacco cessation program.
The Attestation (either completed electronically or on paper) is a legally binding document that all employees must complete each year to enroll in the 80/20 Standard plan.If an employee does not take action during Annual Enrollment, they will remain in the 70/30 Basic plan for the 2010/2011 benefit year.
If an employee chooses to remain in the 70/30 Basic plan by choice or due to tobacco use status, they do not have to do anything during Annual Enrollment unless they want to add or remove dependents or update their personal information.
