Weekly Update 4/16/15

SOUTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL
THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 2015

1. Please wish good luck to Allie Koester. She has been written out of work and put on bed rest with her pregnancy. We wish Allie the best in this new journey!  We are excited to have April Bocholis as Allie's substitute for the 4th quarter.  We really appreciate April stepping in on such short notice!

2. Please celebrate and post your HB students who earned Honor Roll and Straight A's on their report cards for the 3rd quarter. We will have a small celebration for our All A's students very soon. 

3. If you have any quarter grade changes that need to be made, please fill out a grade change form and turn in to my mailbox.  I will review, approve, and then give to Cindy Wilkes to make the appropriate changes.  Please make sure that ALL information is completed on this form. 

4. We will have our March Madness event on Friday, April 17.  It was intended to take place in March, but we had to push it back due to weather.  During this event, students will take on the faculty in a basketball game and the students will be able to participate in other contests. This event will take place after school, similar to a social.  There are opportunities for trade out time for this event, even if you participate in the game. Please sign up in the staff workroom if you are interested in earning trade out time. 

5. The Blue author visit and presentation is scheduled for April 21.  Please refer to the details forwarded out by Lisa Turner. We are also offering trade out time for this event. Sign ups and details are posted in the workroom next to the March Madness sign ups.

6. EVAAS roster verification and instructions will be forwarded to you very soon. 

7. Test training dates for staff will be forwarded to you very soon. These will be mandatory training sessions for staff. 

8. The staff questionnaire for next school year will be forwarded to all staff members very soon. This will be your opportunity to give us input on your current teaching assignment as well as any concerns we need to be aware of as we plan for next school year. 

9. The NJHS rehearsal and induction dates have been pushed back in order to get all information out and reviewed in sufficient time. A timetable will be sent to you to share with your students. 

10. PLT Facilitators: Please remember to submit your weekly meeting minutes to me by the end of each week. This is a requirement.

11. The last day for students will be Friday, June 12.  The last teacher workday on the calendar is now Monday, June 22.  The Monday, June 15 workday is protected, meaning it is required for all staff. We will have our final staff meeting and meal provided by PTSA on that day.

12. Soon we will begin working on an end of year calendar. The 15-day testing window officially starts on Friday, May 22 through the last day of school. We will be putting out more information after Spring Break in regards to 8th grade ceremonies, cut off dates for field trips, etc. Please do not plan to take personal leave time during this window of time. I will not be able to accommodate your requests.

13. We have received word that the A-B calendar WILL be adjusted during the test window to accommodate high school exams. We hope to have that information to you with the May/June calendar. 

14. WSFCS will conduct a summer Collaborative Learning Conference.  It will take place at Walkertown HS on August 12 and 13.  The conference will have breakout sessions in regards to struggling students and how to help them be more successful in the classroom. If you are interested in presenting at this conference, please let me know. I will submit your name to the district. If you'd like to attend, please stay tuned for more info.
